Lovey Dovey Tortoise Couple Bento-Butter Fried Rice Recipe

Owner Lyñ (My Little Messy N Cheeky) SG ⌚ 12:28 AM 22 Foodies ➸
Finally I starts to make Bento again this Tuesday, 24th May after resting for about 2 weeks due to Messy's exams period but after this week maybe I'll be stopping again because Friday is the last day of school and it'll be the June long school holiday for Messy. :( Unless I make for Cheeky as there's no school holidays for the ChildCare Centres.  (She keep complaining that her sister is so good to have school holidays yet she doesn't) Next year she'll have it, I told her.
There were some left-over rice on Monday night so I told Messy I'd fried rice for her the next day. Actually I wanted to cook oyster sauce fried rice (I tried once which my mom-in-law taught me and it was so nice!) for her but I accidentally added too much butter while frying so decided to change at the very last minute. It turned out nice!

Now let me give a short, quick recipe on my Butter Fried Rice because I find that it has a very nice buttery taste and aroma.

    Ingredients for 2-4 Pax :
  • 2 Cups Cooked Rice (Preferably over-night rice so it won't be soggy when you fried it)
  • 2 Tbsps Light Soya Sauce
  • 4-6 Tbsps Butter (Depending on how buttery you prefer)
  • 3 Eggs Beaten (Lightly seasoned with Light Soya Sauce and a dash of white pepper)
  • 1/2 Small Bowl of Frozen Mixed Veggies
  • 4 Imitation Crabsticks (Sliced Thinly)
  • 1/2 Packet of Streaky Bacons (Cut into 1CM wide)
  • A dash of pepper to Taste
    How to Cook :
  1. Dry fried the streaky bacons on medium heat for about 1 min. Set aside on a plate with kitchen paper on it to absorb excess oil.
  2. Heat up the wok on low-medium heat, add 1 tbsp of butter and let it melt. Pour in beaten eggs and scramble a little once it started to set.
  3. Pour cooked rice on top of scrambled eggs and add in 5 tbsps of butter, turn up the heat to medium-high and mixed all well.
  4. Add in mixed veggies, imitation crabsticks and bacons. Stir-fry 1 min, turn heat down to low, add light soya sauce, a dash of pepper and mixed all well.
This is my own version of Butter Fried Rice and both the girls love it!Hope you enjoy this too!:D

Rolled Roti Prata with Egg Bento

Owner Lyñ (My Little Messy N Cheeky) SG ⌚ 2:27 AM 6 Foodies ➸
I made this bento for Messy on 10th May, Tuesday morning. She requested for roti prata (frozen) with egg. I think she must be craving for that because she hasn't had it for MONTHS!She used to eat roti prata ALMOST EVERYDAY for breakfast or even suppers sometimes! No wonder she's growing wider and wider, we always tease her ( SO BAD!
Messy's Rolled Roti Prata with Egg Bento + Side of 'Seafood' Sausages.
I learned to do the Crap from Pikko of Adventures in BentoMaking. As I don't have any plain Kamaboko (can't find it here in SG), I just used sausages to try out my luck if I'm able to make the Crap since Messy wanted to have some of it in her bento. Haha lucky I succeeded!:D
First, I cut the sausages into 3 parts, then cut half lengthwise for each part. Next, I cut a 'V' at the end for the tail and lastly, I boiled the sausages. Hope you have fun making the crap too! Here's Pikko's Crap Tutorial link. ;)
This Roti Prata with Egg, Iceberg Lettuce, Ham and Crabsticks topped with Mayo was Messy's breakfast on 28th Feb.
This was Cheeky's...
and this was my Hubby's. Deliberately did a funny face for him with the mayo to make his day when he woke up. Hee...

Assorted Sushi Bentos

Owner Lyñ (My Little Messy N Cheeky) SG ⌚ 1:28 PM 6 Foodies ➸
For a change, I decided to make some Sushi on 17th Feb 2011, Thursday. It has been a very long time since I last made Sushi about 3-4 years back? OMG! That's really long but I still remembered both Messy and Cheeky were so happy when I made for them. They almost finished ALL the Sushi, just the 2 of them! The 3 of us LOVE IT so much that we can eat EVERYDAY... but because Sushi are not cheap here in Singapore, we don't get to eat everyday, only occasionally or whenever we passed by any Sushi counters while shopping. So I told myself : I must learn to make Sushi!:D
I used the ready made sushi vinegar this time round because it will be a waste to buy such a big bottle of sushi vinegar when I seldom use it.
I made 3 different kinda Maki : cheese & ham Maki, tamagoyaki, crab-stick & cucumber Maki, cheese, ham & crab-stick Maki. I molded some rice with a cling wrap, topped with crab-sticks (this is both girls' ALL-TIME favourite), tamagoyaki, salmon fish-shaped and wrapped round with nori strips.

Cheeky's Assorted Sushi Bento with an octo-dog, crab-sausage, 2 extra crab-sticks and strawberries.

Not only Messy and Cheeky love the bentos I prepared for them, even my mom love it too!

My 1st Bentos

Owner Lyñ (My Little Messy N Cheeky) SG ⌚ 5:52 PM 2 Foodies ➸
I made my very 1st bento on 27th Jan 2011. I woke up very early at 530am to prepare and cook what I had learned from YouTube - Tamagoyaki and Octodogs. Also the 'girl' design sandwich from Susan Yuen, the most famous Bento Cookbook author in Hawaii.
As I couldn't find the rectangle pan for cooking tamago, I just went ahead using the normal round non-stick pan. As for the seasoning in Tamagoyaki, I just used what I can find in mom's kitchen (we're staying with my parents currently and waiting for our new flat) and also using the most simple recipe found online because I still can't get what's mirin and dashi for at that time! Anyway it still turned out nice!
Messy was so happy to see her sandwich bento so 'nicely & beautifully' decorated for the first time but at the same time she was getting anxious because she's going to be late for school! We rushed through doing the last decoration for the other 'tanned' girl made by Messy and I hurried sent her to school. I took the pic in the car while we were waiting for the car to warm up... Luckily she was just in time for school. *pheeew*
This is also the FIRST TIME Messy didn't nagged/complained about not leaving the house before 7am because I can tell from her facial expression : "mommy send me to school today!" & "mommy make me a special lunchbox today!

After sending Messy to school, I went back home to continue with Cheeky's bento. Although she's in ChildCare Ctr, there are food for her provided but she also wanted a special lunchbox.

As I had more time to prepare for Cheeky, hers was more nicely done than Messy's. I'm slow in doing things when it comes to decorations, so I told myself : "I must get up much more earlier to prepare!" which I know that I sure cannot make it! So from then on I'll stay up throughout the night if I were to prepare bentos for them... Lucky I only have to prepare for them when Messy needs to stay back in school for extra activities which is 2-3 days per week or when I feel like doing if not I'll become panda bear very soon!
